CHAPTER FOUR: CIVIL PARENTS AND VIOLENT CHILDREN

Author: Crimson Vampire Goddess
Rating: R
Disclaimer: Okay, so I borrowed most of the characters and the plot. But the new settings came from my own mind! *indignantly*

Willow quietly worked on her laptop at the dining room table as Tara walked around the kitchen preparing dinner.

"You're going to have to put that thing away soon so I can set the table." Tara said Glancing at her wife.

"Would you like me to set the table?" Willow asked shutting off her laptop.

"No, but maybe you should check on Connor; he's been up there a while." Tara said as she took down some plates. Nodding, Willow turned and left without another word. Tara sighed as she watched Willow leave. Things were strained between the two and it scared her. Things had been strained for a while but now it was getting to be too much for her. After their argument earlier in the day the two hadn't been emotional or even affectionate towards each other they had been civil and that hurt her more than she would ever admit. But for right now she'd focus on dinner and then later her son and tonight she would talk to her wife. They'd get through it; they had to.

Willow was contemplating moving out for a week or so, letting things cool off a bit, and was considering packing and just letting Connor alone but as she reached the top of the stairs she heard a scraping sound coming from behind Connor's bedroom door. She gently knocked on the door before entering her son's room.

"WHAT THE HELL?!" Willow shouted when she saw what her son was doing. Connor was carving the word BITCH in large letters onto his wall with a large butcher's knife. Willow roughly grabbed his arm and began dragging him out of the room and towards the stair case.

"What the hell did you think you were doing?" She said as she yanked him along. Suddenly he stopped and refused to move. Remembering the exchange between his mothers earlier he knew Willow wouldn't do anything before going to Tara and he wasn't about to let that happen. Furious, Willow went to take the knife from his hand.

Down in the kitchen Tara sighed a frustrated sigh as she prepared for Willow to come stomping in to the kitchen with yet another problem. Only her wife didn't come. She heard a few loud thumps and a few minutes later Connor came in with blood smeared across his shirt.

"CONNOR! Are you okay?!" Tara rushed to her son in a panic. Running her hands over him she was relieved to find him uninjured. Confusion colored her features as she tried to come up with an explanation as to why her son had blood on him. She froze and her blood turned to ice as realization hit.

"WILLOW!" She yelled as she ran out of the kitchen terrified and praying to be wrong. There lying at the bottom of the stairs lay Willow covered in blood and unmoving.

"NO! Baby, please, get up!" She sobbed as she turned Willow over screeching at what she found. Underneath Willow lay a large butcher's knife covered in blood.

"No, please, Will, don't do this! Get up!" She pleaded with her unconscious wife.

"Willow, oh god, I...I have to get the phone and call for help; the paramedics will help, you'll be fine, fine you hear me?" Tara babbled as shock took over and she crawled into the kitchen. Getting up she reached for the phone with a shaking hand. Clumsily she dialed 911. After talking to the operator and mechanically recited the address she walked back out to were her wife lay. Looking up she saw Connor standing over Willow's deathly pale form.

"Come here, Connor, mommy needs her rest." She said emotionlessly before giggling and dropping to the floor. Opening her arms, she beckoned Connor over wrapping him in her arms as he sat in her lap.

"Momma's baby." She giggled as she nuzzled the back of his neck. Unseen by her a smile spread across his face as he watched his bloodied mother dying on the floor.
