Author: Crimson Vampire Goddess Unlike the busy area around the fountain, Cleveland Street was almost empty. The street was completely deserted except for a horse drawn carriage and its owner, who slept as he sat on the cold hard driver's seat. Mr. Netley was a tall goofy looking man with short blond hair and crooked teeth; his blue eyes, when open, made him look like an innocent child. Unfortunately for Mr. Netley, they also gave others the impression that he was a coward and easily controlled. What was also unfortunate for Mr. Netley was that anyone who thought that would be right, otherwise he wouldn't be sitting in his carriage on Cleveland Street, he would be at home in his nice warm bed sleeping off the drinks from the night before. But there he sat hunched over and sleeping so soundly that he didn't even hear someone walking up behind him. In a flash he was awake a knife held to his throat and a hand over his mouth. "I'm not going to hurt you, Netley." He heard a rough male voice say. "Remember me? Remember who I am?" asked the man as he raised the knife so Netley could see it. The moment Netley saw the knife he nodded. "Your charge will be coming down sooner than expected, much sooner than expected. Be a good man Netley; get him home quickly, quickly and quietly. Understood?" The man asked as he removed his hand from Netley's mouth. Netley was so scared all he could do was open his mouth and nod. "Well said Netley, very well said." The man whispered as he scratched Netleys unshaven chin with the blade of the knife. The man then let go of Netley and walked back down the street as if nothing had happened. Drusilla and Albert were in the middle of making love when their bedroom door was kicked in and a bunch of middle age men in suits walked in. Drusilla screamed in surprise and pulled a sheet around her naked body. "Take them out." Said a round, unpleasant looking man. "What is the meaning of this?!" Albert yelled as the others grabbed Drusilla and pulled her from the bed. "Kidney, What in god's name are you doing?!" Albert yelled at a man he recognized. Drusilla's screams were deafening as the two men began to drag her from the room. "I want this room in peaces." Said Kidney to the other men in suits. They immediately began breaking things and tearing things apart. Both Drusilla and Albert were dragged down the stairs and to the streets below. Willow and Fred were walking down the street side by side laughing when Willow suddenly pulled Fred into an ally way. "What'd you do that for?" Fred asked but then noticed that Willow wasn't listening to her but rather peeking around the corner in the direction that they were headed before their slight detour. Curious as to what her friend was looking at she too peeked around the corner. She gasped when she saw Albert in the middle of the sidewalk naked, except for the towel wrapped around his hips to cover his private area, yelling at a short round man demanding an ‘explanation'. He was then forcibly put into a carriage by two other men who had been restraining him and driven away. "That's Albert!" Fred whispered; shocked by what she had just witnessed. Just then the two women heard a terrible scream and look back in time to see a very frightened Drusilla being carried, kicking and screaming in nothing but a sheet to another waiting carriage and savagely thrown in and driven off. Three men stood in a cement room seemingly standing guard. The room was mostly cast in shadow the only light source was a round light that hung from the ceiling. Directly under the light Drusilla sat at a square wooden table across from an older man. His gray balding hair made him look around 60, he wore a white dress shirt, black slacks, and a grey tweed vest in any other situation he'd look like some ones grandpa but he was by no means a loving old man. Drusilla saw the cruelty in his eyes and the dagger in his hand and tried to make herself stop crying. "Who knows?" He said, his voice cold and emotionless. "I didn't know, I swear I didn't. How can I tell anyone else?" Drusilla said through tears. The man smiled cruelly and clicked his tongue as though he were a father playfully scolding a child. "Who knows?" He asked again bringing the dagger to her breast and pressing the blade against the sensitive flesh drawing a line of blood. Drusilla was sobbing so hard she couldn't answer. "WHO KNOWS?!!" He bellowed as he leaned forward so he was inches from her face. Drusilla cringed and cried even harder. Back in the ally Willow and Fred hid until the men left and then went up to Drusilla and Albert's apartment to see if they could find any clues as to what had happened only to find it completely trashed. By the time they walked back down to the street the sun had set and the street lamps were being lit. "I don't know, I don't know who they could be." Said Fred; rubbing her hands together to keep from shivering. "Albert must have mixed in with somthin' terrible." She said; trying to figure the whole thing out. "Well, whatever it is someone's going to have to tell the others not to come tonight." Said Willow as she looked down the street and watched a tall man light another streetlamp. Ok, you go find them, I'll get to work and I'll meet you later at the Ten Bells." Fred said before walking down the street to find customers |
