Author: Crimson Vampire Goddess A thunder storm raged as a silver dodge intrepid sped down a deserted mountain road. Inside the car four very agitated women were trying to keep what was left of their sanity. "Don't worry guys; my sense of direction is as sharp as ever," Buffy said as she drove. "In other words we're hopelessly lost," Willow said from the back seat earning her a glare from Tara who was sitting next to her. "I know exactly where we are," Buffy snapped glaring at her best friend through the rearview mirror. "You don't even know what country we're in!" yelled an agitated Willow. "Enough already!” Tara shouted, equally as agitated as her girlfriend. "Both of you!" Faith added noticing the smirk on Buffy's face. "Willow, could you please hand me the map?" Faith asked wearily. Willow reached into the pouch on the back of Buffy's seat, pulled out a nicely folded map and handed it to Faith. "Thank you." "You're welcome." "See? Now why can't you act like that with Buffy?" Tara asked a sulking redhead. "Because Buffy, unlike Faith, has a superiority complex," replied Willow. "I do not have a superiority complex!" shouted Buffy. "Whatever," Willow said as she rolled her eyes. By this time Faith had gotten the map open and was searching for where they might have gone wrong. "The lake is this way, like I thought. It's right there," Buffy said pointing to a place on the map that was colored blue. "Um...Baby, that’s not a lake that’s a stain from the blueberries I was eating earlier," Faith said, smiling sheepishly. "Ok, so we are lost," Buffy said with a sigh. "Things can't possibly get any worse," she groaned. Just as the words left her mouth the car shuttered and began to sputter before dying completely. "You should never say things can't possibly get any worse, things will always find a way," Willow said as she banged her forehead on the cool glass window. "Yeah, you know this is your fault for saying that right?" Faith said turning to face her girlfriend. "Now we'll have to sleep in the car," she groaned pouting for good measure. "Nice touch," Willow whispered to herself. "Oh, baby I’m sorry, will a hug make it better?" said Buffy; pulling Faith into a gentle hug. "Uh-hu," Faith mumbled as she nuzzled Buffy's neck. "Ok, what happened to our rough, tough, kick ass, butch Faith?" asked Willow shocked at what she was seeing and hearing. "She's my Faith snuggle bear," Buffy cooed. "I'm not seeing this, I'm not seeing this, I'm not seeing this," Willow repeated closing her eyes and shaking her head. "I think it's sweet," Tara said smiling at the couple. Willow stopped and just looked at Tara as if she'd just sprouted another head. "Thanks, but if either you breathe a word of this to anyone you're dead," Faith said looking at her friends mock threateningly. "Ok, so sleeping in the car so not what I had planned," Buffy said looking around the interior of the car. "A-Actually, I think I saw a h-hotel a few miles back. We could p-put some clothes in plastic b-bags, walk there and c-come back in the morning," Tara suggested. "You mean that scary one that looks like it's haunted?" asked Buffy in a shaky high pitched voice. "It's better than the car," replied Willow. "So it's settled then, let's get going," Faith said as she opened her door and got out of the car followed by Willow, Tara, and a not too happy Buffy. The four put some clothes into some plastic garbage bags Buffy always kept in the trunk and then started walking to the hotel. |
