CHAPTER TEN: IT MEANT NOTHING

Author: Crimson Vampire Goddess
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don't own any B.T.V.S. characters, if I did I would have had Spike and Angel go for a nice sunny walk, Faith and Buffy would have realized they had the hots for each other about a week after Faith arrived, and oh yeah, that thing about Tara dying never woulda happened.

The next morning Tara awoke in a warm embrace. Cuddling closer she felt Willow do likewise and then begin to kiss her throat. Eyes still closed, Tara leaned back and arched into the kisses as she felt them being placed down her chest. She gasped as a kiss was placed on her nipple. The gasp turned into a moan as a tongue teased her nipple. Soon the kisses moved down over her stomach stopping short of her underwear.

"Ohhh, Willow." Tara moaned. Suddenly the kissing stopped and Tara opened her eyes. Tara's eyes widened and she let out a scream.

"BUFFY!?!?" Indeed it was Buffy, not Willow, kneeling wide eyed and blushing at the foot of the bed.

"I...I thought you were Faith!" Buffy squeaked. Tara just stared wide eyed at the shorter blond, mouth moving soundlessly. Then what she and Buffy, not Willow, had just been doing came crashing into her thoughts.

"Oh, Goddess...Oh, Goddess...OH, GODDESS!!" Tara repeated her face turning an unflattering shade of crimson.

"We didn't...we weren't...were we?" Buffy stammered. Tara got up and walked over to the door leading to the adjoining room. Getting up, Buffy follows Tara into the adjoining room. Guilt washed over the pair as they watched their lovers sleep peacefully. Willow lay on her stomach her face half buried in her pillow. Faith lay beside her, her arm draped over Willow's back and her head on Willow's shoulder blade, her neck in an unusual angle that was sure to give her a stiff neck when she woke. Exchanging a guilt filled and understanding look, Buffy and Tara made their way over to their lovers. Buffy moves first, picking up the still sleeping Faith with a strength no one her size should possess and taking her back into the other room. After gazing lovingly at her lover a moment longer, Tara gently turned Willow onto her side and scooted into bed in front of her; cuddling up to the sleeping red head.

Breakfast was unusually quiet for the four friends. When all four friends were finally awake and dressed they headed down stairs to find Justine and Josh. The dining area they were led into was surprisingly clean and cozy.

"So, I was thinking I could call a tow truck to come tow us to the closest garage after breakfast." Faith said in an attempt to break the awkward silence.

"Yeah..."

"Okay..."

"Okay, you know what this is getting really weird. You two have been ignoring each other all morning. What is going on?" Willow asked looking from Tara to Buffy.

"I...we...umm..." Tara stammered blushing and hiding behind a curtain of blonde hair.

"Tara...Did something happen last night?" Willow asked trying to figure out what could have happened that would make her girlfriend and her good friend ignore each other.

"Yeah, you two have a fight?" Faith added just as confused by the awkward behavior.

"Well, It's actually a pretty funny story...hehe..." Buffy started nervously.

After listening to the story of the morning's events, Willow and Faith sat in shock trying desperately to process what they'd just been told.

"We didn't mean to. It just sort of happened. It meant nothing, you have to know that." Tara said nervously waiting for a response from the two girls sitting across from her.

"Yeah...Okay, umm I think I need to go for a walk..." Faith said standing.

"Baby, it was a mistake. I thought she was you..." Buffy started.

"I know...I just need time to think...to process." Faith said before turning and heading to the pool area through the French doors.

"Willow?" Tara asked the still silent red head.

"You...you...I'm going for a walk too." Willow said getting up and following Faith's path out.

"Well, that went well." Tara said crossing her arms over her chest, suddenly self conscious and uncomfortable around the shorter blond. Groaning, Buffy rested her head on the table, connecting with a resounding thud.
