Week 18- Start brushing up on your lullabies now - this week, your baby can hear! The bones of the inner ear and the nerve endings from the brain have developed enough so that your baby will hear sounds such as your heartbeat and blood moving through the umbilical cord. He or she may even be startled by loud noises! Your baby's eyes are developing, too - the retinas may be able to detect the beam of a flashlight if you hold it to your uterus.

"Willow, are you here?" Tara yelled as she came through the front door.

"Up here Tare!"

Tara ran up the stairs and found Willow in her bed reading. "Wait til you see what I have."

"Ooooh presents? Show me!" Willow set her book aside. She bounced up down on her bed excitedly.

Tara giggled and picked up a bag she had set on the floor. She opened the bag and began pulling out piles of children's books. "I read somewhere that the baby should be able to hear us this week. I thought maybe you'd like to read to him. I got all the ones I could find and tomorrow I'll order some more." She placed the last of the books down on the bed.

"Uh Tara, this is like 40 books. I doubt that the baby will need more right now." She looked at the books covering her bed with a soft smile. 'She's so cute'

"Well there was one more but," Tara pulled a copy of Love You Forever from the bag, "but if you don't think he needs more books I can take it back. It wouldn't be a problem or..."

"OH MY GOD!!!" Will quickly grabbed the book from Tara's hand and began flipping through the pages. "Tara I love this book. I can't believe that you could even find it."

"Me neither, I've been looking everywhere for it. I finally found it at a christian book store downtown." Tara plopped back on the bed.

"Tare this is really sweet, thank you."

Tara gave Willow a small smile. "Anytime sweetie. I was thinking of maybe making lasagna tonight, I know how sick you are of all the healthy stuff lately."

"What would I do without you?" Willow laid down and rested her head on Tara's chest.

"I guess we'll never know."

Tara sat in the living room reading Terror In The Mind Of God. She had read the book several times but on this night it wasn't holding her attention. Lately, things with Willow had fallen into a very comfortable and confusing place. They did everything together, shared a bed, acted like a couple... 'Why does this remind me of highschool?' Tara got up and went into the kitchen. She opened the freezer looking for the ice pops Willow had bought her early. Digging around in the freezer she found a carton of chocolate ice cream. 'Willow knows she shouldn't have this. It's not healthy for the baby.' Tara tossed the ice cream into the trash. 'Although, me flitting around here like an expectant father isn't healthy either.'
