CHAPTER ELEVEN: THE TRUTH ABOUT CONNOR

Author: Crimson Vampire Goddess
Rating: R
Disclaimer: Okay, so I borrowed most of the characters and the plot. But the new settings came from my own mind! *indignantly*

It had been two months since the ordeal that left Willow with an ugly scar on her stomach and Connor with mandatory weekly psych evaluations. Tara had done her best in that time to get everything back to normal planning family outings and nights together but despite her best efforts Willow was still uncomfortable around Connor and, increasingly, around Tara herself. Which was one of the reasons Willow was absent from the "family nights" Tara had planned out. Instead Willow found herself walking around the neighborhood aimlessly.

'Why? Why can't I get past this? He's my son. My five year old son...and I can't even stand to be in the same room as him. And Tara? Why can't I be alone with Tara? I love her; she's my wife and yet I've started sleeping in the guest room with the door locked. I know I'm hurting her; she doesn't understand. Goddess, I can't stand to be with my family. How did this happen?' Stopping Willow realized exactly how it happened; and she hated herself for even thinking it.

"Damn it!" Willow cursed punching the ally wall hard. Whimpering she cradled her now injured hand. Walking under the closest street lamp she held her hand out to get a better look. Her knuckles were bleeding where they had scraped against the rough brick and her wrist was swelling from the impact.

"Hello?" Willow spun around to see an elderly man walking towards her.

"Hi, sorry if I bothered you I..."

"No, I was just out for a walk; same as you I suspect." The man said with a warm smile.

"Yeah, it helps clear the mind." Willow said flexing her hand.

"It's certainly safer than punching a wall." The man said with a small smirk.

"I kinda had to learn that the hard way." Willow chuckled.

"Well, if you'd like you could accompany me to my church; I'm sure I have some bandages and we could clean that before it gets infected." He paused before saying what else was on his mind.

"Something tells me you won't be heading home for a while." He said studying her intently.

"Your church?" Willow asked as she began walking with him.

"Well, not my church; God's church...I just work there. The names Rupert by the way; Rupert Giles but most people just call me Giles."

"Willow, Willow Rosenberg." She couldn't bring herself to say "Maclay". Rupert stopped and stared at her before shaking his head and continuing on.

Meanwhile back at the Maclay-Rosenberg house Tara was pacing in front of the front door; debating weather to wait for Willow, go looking for her, or call the police.

'Where is she? It's been four hours...no it's been longer she's been so distant since...since "it" happened. Could she be cheating? No she wouldn't cheat...would she? She has been sleeping in the guest room and she won't spend time with me...or Connor. She doesn't blame him for what happened she can't; he's just a child. Does she blame me? I have to talk to her. But should I wait? What if something happened to her?'

"Mommy?" Tara looks down to see Connor looking up at her; an odd expression on his face.

"Yes, baby?" Tara kneeled down so she was face to face with the boy.

"When is daddy coming?" He asked.

"D-daddy? Connor, sweetie, we've been over this...you don't have a daddy; you have two mommies that l-love you very much." Tara said a bit unnerved by the question.

"No, I have a mommy, you, and a daddy." Connor said as if he were explaining something that really didn't need explaining.

"Connor..."

"He comes to visit me when I go to sleep. He says he chose you to be my mommy. He chose you because you are pure. He said he's going to come for us when the time comes and then he'll be king, you'll be queen, and I'll be prince and we'll be a real family and we'll rule together."

"Connor, what are you talking about?" Tara asked now very nervous about what he might say next.

"So tell me about your son or is it your wife your more worried about?" Giles asked as he and Willow entered his office.

"I'm really not sure. I can't even look at my wife and I'm afraid of my son...Goddess that sounds so messed up." Willow said sitting down on the worn green leather couch.

"Why are you afraid of a child?" Giles asked.

"He's... this is going to sound crazy, but that kid is evil."

"It's not crazy. In fact I know exactly what you mean." Giles said handing her a first aid kit.

"Huh?" Willow asked opening the kit and retrieving what she needed.

"I know all about that boy. He's not your son...he's the son of the devil." Giles said watching Willow clean and dress her hand.

"Okay, and I thought I was crazy." Willow said staring at Giles.

"Think about it; has he ever shown any emotions like love or caring about anything? Has he ever shown remorse if he hurts something...or someone?" He asked giving her a meaningful gaze.

"No, in fact he enjoys killing. I never told Tara what really happened to Miss Kitty Fantastico. Connor didn't want to take a bath...I caught him holding her under the water; I scolded him and the next night she was poisoned." Willow said recalling her wifes beloved feline.

"Cat. Miss Kitty was Tara's cat." She clarified when she noticed Giles looking at her oddly.

"Goddess I must be losing it. First I find out that magic is real, then my wife winds up pregnant no A.I. or man involved, and now her son is the spawn of Satan." Willow said to herself.

"Samael."

"What did you say?!" Willow asked remembering the man from her dream.

"Samael, he's Samael's son." Giles said. Willow just stared at him in shock.

"There are a few books I have here that reference the prophecy of Samael's son and subsequently his rise to power. Supposedly Samael chooses a woman of purity and magic, your wife, and impregnates her through her dreamscape and then when his son reaches the age of six he drains his mother's good magic and uses it to free his father. Then Samael his son and his new queen, again your wife, rise to power and take over creation." Giles said as if describing a family vacation to Hawaii.

"Oh, Goddess."
