Spoilers: I'm not going to be deliberately spoiling the endings of stories, but these reviews will contain some details of plots, especially for issues that begin multi-issue story arcs. As a rule of thumb, I won't be revealing anything I personally wouldn't want to know prior to reading an issue.

Countdown #38 ~ Question and Batwoman guest star again, with a couple of pages in which they interrogate Trickster and Pied Piper. Kate's all hot-headed and butch, and Renee plays the more cautious, more analytical side of the duo - it's a nice dynamic, they argue and get along in equal measure. For the rest of the issue, Mary Marvel and Zatanna battle sea monsters in costumes that show off their legs, Darkseid postures a bit, Oracle does some computer stuff before attending to Karate Kid and his Slowest-Moving Storyline Ever, the Monitors squabble, and Jimmy Olsen continues to be irritating. I'm guessing Renee and Kate's appearance is done for now, but I'll keep checking issues just in case.

Incredible Hulk #109 ~ With one issue to go, this is shaping up as the best-handled tie-in I've ever seen - the story wouldn't really stand that well on its own, but then I don't think it's unfair to expect Hulk fans to be reading World War Hulk, and regardless, I don't think it'd be too confusing read solo. But without requiring loose plot threads in WWH that non-Hulk-readers wouldn't understand, Hulk fits seamlessly into the action, and delivers a very complex, sophisticated view of Hulk, the Warbound, his human allies, and everyone else who's just trying to stay alive. Scorpion, who showed up in Heroes for Hire, makes an appearance here, contiuing a very effective introduction of the character to readers who won't have seen her before (and y'know, rumour has it she's Bruce Banner's daughter, so I wonder if they're up to something there).
